frequently asked questions

Will the Beavers need to be in Uniform?
Yes, all Beavers will need to be in uniform, either wearing their turquoise sweatshirt or polo shirt. Leaders are advised to make sure all participants are also wearing their group scarf to ensure easier identification. Children who are not part of the Beaver section but are attending to accompany parents or helpers will not be required to wear a uniform.

What time can we start arriving?
The opening ceremony will be at 10am and all colonies will need to book in before then. We would advise trying to time your arrival for between 9:15 and 9:45am, but appreciate this can be difficult when travelling a distance. If you’re very early we suggest bringing along a game or two to pass the time.

What do the Beavers need to bring?
1) A packed lunch and cold drink.
2) If hot, sun cream and a hat would be advised. If wet, a coat and appropriate footwear.
3) Medication if applicable (must be clearly labelled)

What do the adults need to bring / remember?
1) A register of everyone in your party to hand in at the information desk
2) An emergency contact number for each participant, or set up a Home Contact.
3) A large (2litre) empty plastic bottle for drink refills is advised but not essential.
4) A tent or gazebo to use as your colony's ‘home base’ for bags or equipment (optional)
5) Colony flag or pennant for the opening ceremony (optional)

What do we do when we get there?
One member of the leadership team should book in at the Information Desk. Each group will be given a timetable, wristbands (which your entire group should wear), a site map and a set of beaveree badges, plus any other essential information. Timetables and Groupings will appear on the website as they are confirmed, which should be around the middle of May. Once booked in, the group will make their way to the main field to set up a "home base" where bags and equipment of all participants will be kept throughout the day.

What happens at each Zone?
Zones are organised in different ways so there will be someone at each one to guide and instruct you. In many cases, zones will be split into a number of sub-bases so each group will rotate activities over a period of time. In these instances, you will be advised which of the zone's activities to start with, and when to change round. All Leaders and parents will be asked to help with activities and manage the behaviour of the Beaver Scouts.

What happens if something goes wrong?
Hopefully it won’t! But if it does go wrong don’t keep it to yourself, please let a base leader know straight away...that way we have an opportunity to put it right! Any serious misconduct must be reported to the Zone leader, and any medical issues should be reported to the Medics on site.

What happens if one of the Beavers wanders off or gets lost?
The Beaveree will be taking place in an enclosed area, with leaders keeping an eye on the exits so there should be no instances of Beavers leaving the premises during the day, unless escorted by a parent or adult. If a Beaver loses their group during the change over period they will be advised to talk to the nearest leader, who will escort them to a suitable pick-up point on site (usually the Information Desk).
